Operation Pad Her
A girl who cannot afford pads misses roughly a week of school a month. Over a school year, that is a term.
The problem
The intervention is cheap, unglamorous and works. It is also the kind of thing that goes unfunded because nobody wants to put it in a press release.
Replace with a photograph from this programme.
What we do
Our response
- Supply sanitary pads to girls in partner schools on a termly cycle.
- Run menstrual health education sessions with school staff present.
- Work with teachers to track attendance so the effect can be measured, not assumed.
- Include boys in the education sessions, because stigma is not a girls-only problem.
Who benefits
Specifically
Secondary school girls in partner schools across Osun State, with Oyo State as our secondary operating area.
₦2,000 a month supplies one girl's pads for a school term.
Give once, or set up a monthly gift so this programme can plan beyond the next outreach.
